HillMetrics Website - When engineer and AI become besties

The speed that AI enabled made a six-month website development timeline unacceptable. What clients expect now is one working day. Or less.

This is not a story where we announce we delivered it in a day.
Is it possible? Maybe, but we are not playing with a quality.

We don't vibe code

We are engineers, and we don't vibe code. When we deliver a product, we are signing off on it. We do all the documentation needed, develop it with the highest code quality, test it, and deploy it. Your website is pixel perfect, and we thought about it a lot. All blind spots are covered and your product is treated like it's our own.
And that is not a one-day job.

Let's play a game

The request: a brand new HillMetrics website. Fresh, modern, fully manageable through CMS, and pixel perfect. Do it fast. The fastest you can. But we are not sacrificing documentation, code quality standards, testing, methodology - none of it.

The clock started ticking.

We engaged the best of the best, just to set a record and be an example to follow.
Besides documentation, we wanted a step-by-step process written up as a workbook for engineers to follow. Aaaand a well-thought-out product with all blind spots covered. Oh, and one more detail: we didn't have functional specifications - only design. What needs to be managed through CMS? Well - everything.

"It's not ready yet," the engineer argued. Valid response. But the race had begun, the clock was ticking, and he had Crnogochi, our internal governance tool by his side.

The score

Six working days. One developer. A bit more if you count the experiments done purely for the fun of it.
Functional and tech docs. CMS. Frontend. Testing. Deployment. Pixel perfect.
The result: a website that can last and be fully managed. A website where any engineer could pick up the docs and continue the work if needed. No tribal knowledge, no "only Marko knows how this works." Everything on paper, everything reproducible.

That's the difference between fast and rushed. Fast still signs off. Rushed just ships.

Lesson learned?

The engineer was having fun.
And when we draw a line, fun is what we value at Bild. Our projects, simple or complex, are products of happy kids who treat development like a game.

I mean - happy kids who have loved this game for 10+ years.
